Message To CVS

Date: Friday March 16, 2018

On Thursday March 16th, workers from CVS in Flatbush were represented at a rally where we made our message very clear: we want a fair contract now! It’s been more than two years that the company has been trying to prevent the working men and women at CVS from getting the benefits and protections that they deserve, including both their attempt to hold us up in court and their refusal to negotiate fairly. We’ve won in court, and we will win at the negotiations table!

All we’re asking for, for our members, is their right to the same benefits that their counterparts in California have. Adrian Caddle, who has worked at CVS for over 14 years arranged for his break to take place at the same time as the rally to speak about his experiences, but the company would not let him. Although Adrian wasn’t permitted to be there, Debbie Henry-Haughton, a Local 338 member working at CVS, spoke loud and clear about what having a union contract would mean to her and her family—and she will not back down!

A number of locals of the RWDSU and UFCW stood in solidarity with us, and we were also joined by elected officials that represent the workers in Brooklyn. We’d like to send a special thank you to NYC Public Advocate Letitia James, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, NYC Central Labor Council President Vincent Alvarez, the RWDSU, UFCW 1500, UFCW 342, UFCW 888, UFCW 2013, RWDSU 108, RWDSU 670, RWDSU 1-S, and RWDSU 262 for standing with Local 338 members working at CVS.
